Leiden School (20th century)
At the beginning of the last century the Leiden School painters, like the Hague School painters, specialized in painting in the open air (‘en plein air’) the sobriety of the pure Dutch rural landscape in all her aspects. However, they chose to paint the nature and especially the ever changing play of light in the environment of Leiden.
